Dr. Zelman founded the Cape Cod Research Institute as a not-for-profit center to promote clinical investigation on Cape Cod (now part of Cape Cod Healthcare) and was the driving force behind a multidisciplinary vascular service that became a national model for vascular centers. It was recognized as one of the five model programs of a vascular center of excellence in the nation.

  Dr. Richard Zelman Dr. Zelman received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his M.D from the University of Texas Health Science Center. He completed an Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine, followed by a clinical and research fellowship in Cardiovascular Medicine and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology, all at Brigham and Women’s Hospital-Harvard Medical School. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Interventional Cardiology. In addition to practicing Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology at Cape Cod and Falmouth Hospitals, Dr. Zelman has cared for patients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Tufts Medical Center, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, and Boston University Hospital.
